About an hour after his detention, Marreel went into medical distress and was taken to Norfolk General Hospital, where he died from acute cocaine poisoning.
It seems to me that the phrase "excited delirium" arguably clouded the judgement of those involved. If they had used the phrase "possible drug overdose" instead, then perhaps the requirement for significant medical intervention might have been more obvious.
There seems to be an indication that, in this case, the entire concept of "excited delirium" was not only unhelpful, but perhaps of extreme negative value.
Something to think about.
