Mission Statement - De-Spinning the Pro-Taser Propaganda

Yeah right, 'Excited Delirium' my ass...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The primary purpose of this blog is to provide an outlet for my observations and analysis about tasers, taser "associated" deaths, and the behaviour exhibited by the management, employees and minions of Taser International. In general, everything is linked back to external sources, often via previous posts on the same topic, so that readers can fact-check to their heart's content. This blog was started in late-2007 when Canadians were enraged by the taser death of Robert Dziekanski and four others in a short three month period. The cocky attitude exhibited by the Taser International spokespuppet, and his preposterous proposal that Mr. Dziekanski coincidentally died of "excited delirium" at the time of his taser-death, led me to choose the blog name I did and provides my motivation. I have zero financial ties to this issue.

Whack-a-spokesmole

Taser spokesmole sticks his head up, gets it severely whacked. [LINK]

Commenter "Bob" ... is David E. Zuskin, a well-known semi-professional Taser International spokespuppet. Based on the available evidence, he is paid to be the first commenter on any taser story. Look for Bob, Wiseone, and Dave as the first commenter on any taser story. Same guy.

The primary "taser" issue is that Taser International claims that the taser (X26) is inherently incapable of directly causing a death via any of several well-defined internal risk factors and death mechanisms.

It is obvious to almost all that this claim of inherent safety is specious, false, a damn lie, and extremely dangerous.

What follows from this is a culture, as so clearly demonstrated by the clearly-defective training, that the taser is a harmless toy to be used about one hundred times more often than the police have historically used their guns. It's become a tool of convenience and (far too often) police brutality.

The approach taken by Taser International in the "debate" about taser safety has been reprehensible, disgusting, and should be treated as criminal.

For those that are still uncertain of the real story, consider these observations:

1) Why are taser training hits and taser demonstrations almost always fired into the the trainees' or volunteers' backs, and almost never the chest? They could clip the wires onto the chest, or wear a face mask. The real reason is that Taser International is scared to DEATH of a cardiac death under training conditions. Thus the back. If I'm wrong, then change the policy to have such hits fired into the chest across the heart.

2) Why are there essentially ZERO deaths in the time after the taser is drawn and before it is fired? This period of time provides an experimental control that reveals the truth. This curious temporal asymmetry is crystal clear evidence of what is really going on with the 400+ taser "associated" deaths. Show me the many hundreds of people that died at the mere sight of a drawn taser.
