Yee haw! That'll learn 'em.
What I really love about this settlement is that the county self-insures for the first $1M, and the other $900k comes from their insurance company. That's just about perfect. Share the pain in a way that should capture the attention of all concerned.
A news report: [LINK]
The county claims to have already tightened-up Taser Use Policy and cut their use by "64%".
If they honestly believe that a mere 64% reduction is sufficient to avoid overuse and misuse of tasers, then they're "Moron County". They'll pay out again sooner or later; mark my words.
The correct reduction ratio is more like 95%.

It is good that he actually won the case and got a settlement, but the fact remains that a large majority of people who fall victims to police brutality are not lucky enough to have video evidence as seen in this case, and more than often end up spending time in jail just to be released later, without any sort of settlement. Also, the money he received was our tax dollars. We pay the government money to protect us, they use the money to outfit fancy thugs with guns and cars who in turn abuse us, only to pay us with the money we thought was being used to protect us.
Despicably pathetic.
Sadly, as more and more Americans' views are changing in regards to police officers, the few good officers we have left we are going to be targeted in a negative light, simply because the asshole cops made such a shitty name for themselves.
This country needs a makeover. Now. Before some individuals become angry enough to "give the police a taste of their own medicine".
Watch 'Gandhi' the movie.
