Mission Statement - De-Spinning the Pro-Taser Propaganda

Yeah right, 'Excited Delirium' my ass...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The primary purpose of this blog is to provide an outlet for my observations and analysis about tasers, taser "associated" deaths, and the behaviour exhibited by the management, employees and minions of Taser International. In general, everything is linked back to external sources, often via previous posts on the same topic, so that readers can fact-check to their heart's content. This blog was started in late-2007 when Canadians were enraged by the taser death of Robert Dziekanski and four others in a short three month period. The cocky attitude exhibited by the Taser International spokespuppet, and his preposterous proposal that Mr. Dziekanski coincidentally died of "excited delirium" at the time of his taser-death, led me to choose the blog name I did and provides my motivation. I have zero financial ties to this issue.

Evidence of the world's worst training?

This is incredible...

...Const. Bentley said Mr. Dziekanski's screaming and the look on his face suggested he was "fighting through it."

Mr. Rosenbloom suggested the look on Mr. Dziekanski face and his screaming could have been caused by the [2000x over-strength] extreme pain of the taser.

"It could be both. It depends how you interpret it," Const. Bentley replied. ...

The above exchange is simply amazing.

Taser Training is this? (written in 'TASER BASIC' - sarcasm!):

05: REM Tasering Algorithm - by Taser International
10: TASER the_subject

20: IF face_contorted THEN GOTO 10
30: INTERRUPT IF face_blue
40: PRINT "ERROR - impossible condition, no solution. ";
50: GOTO 40

No wonder people get tasered five times in a row.

The 'thinking' here is exactly the same as the world's stupidest algorithm: Moth+Light.

Root causes - false claims of safety, defective training, general stupidity all around.

Sometimes things are so bad that they simply have to get better.

In this case, the pendulum has been pushed so far and so hard into the insane world of taser-craziness, that when it inevitably springs back towards the normal world - it may do so in a manner that disappoints taser fan-boys everywhere.

Let's hope so.

"Critical Mass" ~

The taser story, I believe, is achieving a state of "Critical Mass", and that includes both meanings of that phrase.

Canadians are slowly realizing they have been fed a string of whole-cloth miss-truths and outright lies, by law enforcement officers who blindly regurgitate defective "data" spoon-fed to them in "packets" that accompany the Taser guns they purchase from Taser International. In those packets are strategies to deal with criticism, injuries and death which too often follow after taser deployments.

Once any "issue" becomes troublesome to The Middle Class, you can be sure it has reached "Critical Mass", much like a nuclear fission event.

And the Masses are Critical of the un-holy alliance between law enforcement and the supplier of a clearly deadly, extreme pain inflicting, stun gun.

Hopefully the role in the "use of force continuum" for tasers, will be limited to highly trained and restrained SWAT Teams or Crisis Intervention specialists.

The "taser experiment", using thousands of ordinary citizens as Guinea Pigs, has amply demonstrated they are not to be entrusted in the hands of easily "excited" and retributive street cops.

Newspapers across Canada and the US are full of critical comments by persons who have witnessed and experienced taser abuse and death.

This sad chapter will end soon, all too late for the 500 or more victims of taser abuse who have died world-wide in jails and the street, at the hands of law enforcement officers who blindly thought and believed their tasers could not kill their arrestees. Some of these well-meaning police officers must be suffering silently, as they realize they became the proximate cause of death, by employing their dangerous tasers.

The company which foisted this horrible, deadly compliance and punishment device should be pursued with every legal device and process possible, hopefully leading to convictions and punishment for the mini-holocaust they have visited on the good people of this earth.

I enjoy and read your blog.

Did you know "Excited Delirium" requires the presence of law enforcement? That would make it the most unusual "medical condition" ....ever. Excited delirium has only been "ruled" as a cause of death, when police or jail guards were present. I wonder what the AMA would say, if that fact came to light?

I agree with you: "Excited Delirium" ..... MY ASS!!
