Mission Statement - De-Spinning the Pro-Taser Propaganda

Yeah right, 'Excited Delirium' my ass...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The primary purpose of this blog is to provide an outlet for my observations and analysis about tasers, taser "associated" deaths, and the behaviour exhibited by the management, employees and minions of Taser International. In general, everything is linked back to external sources, often via previous posts on the same topic, so that readers can fact-check to their heart's content. This blog was started in late-2007 when Canadians were enraged by the taser death of Robert Dziekanski and four others in a short three month period. The cocky attitude exhibited by the Taser International spokespuppet, and his preposterous proposal that Mr. Dziekanski coincidentally died of "excited delirium" at the time of his taser-death, led me to choose the blog name I did and provides my motivation. I have zero financial ties to this issue.

Would he have died anyway?

Brian Cardall, the 32-year old son of KSL (Salt Lake City, Utah) Editorial Director Duane Cardall, dies after being tasered by police. Condolences to the family.

The Washington County (Utah) Undersheriff Jake Adams says that after being hit by the taser, the man became unconscious. Paramedics treated him, but he was pronounced dead at a hospital. [LINK] [LINK]

So, would he have died ~ right then ~ if the taser had not been used? I think it's an obvious question. And I think that the true answer is pretty obvious too. Examine the timeline. Do the math. What are the odds?

But this tragic death will probably be marked down as yet another 'Excited Delirium' death. It happens all the time, especially when tasers are involved.

Taser’s answer: Until all the facts surrounding this tragic incident are known, it is inappropriate to jump to conclusions on the cause of death. We believe that TASER® technology protects life and if called upon we are prepared to help the investigation of this unfortunate incident.

What other facts do they need? Man tased. Man dies. Cops will get away with murder again. Yes, what a “tragic incident.”
