Mission Statement - De-Spinning the Pro-Taser Propaganda

Yeah right, 'Excited Delirium' my ass...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The primary purpose of this blog is to provide an outlet for my observations and analysis about tasers, taser "associated" deaths, and the behaviour exhibited by the management, employees and minions of Taser International. In general, everything is linked back to external sources, often via previous posts on the same topic, so that readers can fact-check to their heart's content. This blog was started in late-2007 when Canadians were enraged by the taser death of Robert Dziekanski and four others in a short three month period. The cocky attitude exhibited by the Taser International spokespuppet, and his preposterous proposal that Mr. Dziekanski coincidentally died of "excited delirium" at the time of his taser-death, led me to choose the blog name I did and provides my motivation. I have zero financial ties to this issue.

Taser C2 review

And for those consumers actually thinking about the Taser C2 - here is my review of the concept:

Q1: What if there are two or more assailants? Did you think about that Mr. Only One-Standoff-Shot?

Q2: What if someone gains control of your cute little taser? How will your day go after that?

Q3: How far can you run in 30-seconds? Be honest. 300 feet? And what is the assailant going to do to you when he catches up with you? (And remember, you left your sparking taser on the ground next to him.)

My suggestion:

Take half the $400 cost of a taser, and keep it with you (in twenty $10 bills).

Smaller, lighter, generally more useful. Legal in all states and cities. Cheaper by half. Usable in many more situations.

If you're approached by a mugger, toss the cash at the mugger. It'll take him much longer than 30 seconds to pick-up all the bills. And near-zero chance that he'll run you down and kill you after.

Sound silly to leave the mugger with $200? Well the brain trust at Taser suggests leaving your $400 sparking taser on the ground next to the quivering assailant. May I point out that $200 is approximately $200 less than $400?

Think it through folks.

The Taser C2 - it's just a stupid concept.

Of all your posts, this has to be one of the most entertaining and absolutely clear FACT provider of the flaws in Taser "technology" and its usage. BEEN THERE done that...let's just put it that way. These "tools" are junk and soo useless in a real world scenario

Thanks again.

Deleted two pro-taser comments.

I will mention that one now-deleted comment stated (unconfirmed) that Taser will supposedly replace a taser left behind.

Of course, if the mugger doesn't like being tased and can run you down after you have a 25-second head start, then I guess it might be your estate claiming their free taser.

Think it through. Especially if you're an out-of-shape middle aged lady that might cover 20 yards in 25 seconds.

Sure, these's some small chance that a taser might help. But there is at least as big a chance that a taser will convert a mugger into a murderer.

People that purchase a taser for "self defense" are rather stupid.

I'll post something else that might make you think.

"Deleted two pro-taser comments"
Good to see both sides of this review are represented on this blog. "grin"

This type of narrow-minded thinking that gets people killed for no reason.

Examples of narrow-minded thinking:

IRAQ war
Skinheads
Hitler
NRA

The list goes on ...I sure would not want to be lumped in with this bunch however, ignorance breeds ignorance.

Thanks,

Security Girl

PS are you man enough to leave this post undeleted?

You're confusing the application of logic to shred the stupid pro-taser arguments with "narrow minded thinking". This blog specializes in shredding the worst of the pro-taser arguments. I like to think that I've forced Taser (and pro-taser folks) to migrate from one argument to another as I shred them in sequence.

It is a stated policy of this blog that pro-taser comments are subject to deletion. There are more than adequate forums where the pro-taser folks can express their views. This blog is dedicated to highlighting the long-suppressed reality of the dangers of tasers.
