UPDATE - I guess I don't pay sufficient attention to the Government of the Day. I've been informed that the ineffective Stockwell Day has been replaced as Minister of Public Tasering (I mean ...Safety) by someone called Peter Van Loan.
...By his silence and inaction - he obviously doesn't see any problem with children being tasered. And so it may continue.
Ontario's child advocate has recommended the provincial police force ban the use of stun guns on minors unless someone's life is in danger. [LINK]
The Child Advocate's position seems perfectly reasonable.
After all, we've firmly established (via dozens and dozens of Coroners' findings) that taser can "contribute to" unintended deaths. So tasering children for picking paint from a jail cell wall (for example) would seem to be patently unreasonable.
That is, unless you're still suffering from a serious case of Taser brainwashing and need a taser moratorium to clear your head.
So Minister Van Loan - do you wish to see children tasered?
As the Truth...Not Tasers blog has tracked, "FOUR Americans have died since the beginning of 2009, including a 17-YEAR OLD boy who became AT LEAST the FIFTH 17-year-old to die in North America after being tasered. ..."
This includes Michael Langan, age 17, Winnipeg, MB - July 22, 2008.
And we all know that 17-year-olds '...fall over dead all the time. Bad hearts ya know...' (sic).
Your move Mr. Van Loan.
Your continued inaction means that you effectively approve of children being tasered even if they represent no credible threat to the officers. Such as when they are picking paint from a cell wall.
