Mission Statement - De-Spinning the Pro-Taser Propaganda

Yeah right, 'Excited Delirium' my ass...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The primary purpose of this blog is to provide an outlet for my observations and analysis about tasers, taser "associated" deaths, and the behaviour exhibited by the management, employees and minions of Taser International. In general, everything is linked back to external sources, often via previous posts on the same topic, so that readers can fact-check to their heart's content. This blog was started in late-2007 when Canadians were enraged by the taser death of Robert Dziekanski and four others in a short three month period. The cocky attitude exhibited by the Taser International spokespuppet, and his preposterous proposal that Mr. Dziekanski coincidentally died of "excited delirium" at the time of his taser-death, led me to choose the blog name I did and provides my motivation. I have zero financial ties to this issue.

The Naked Wizard

Police Taser Incident Leaves Crowd Watching, Gasping
--- Warning: Video available at link contains nudity ---

An unknown man dubbed “The Naked Wizard” was tased several times in front of a stunned crowd during last month’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, a 3 day concert in Indio, Calif., known as the Woodstock of the 21st century. LINK

There are so many aspects to this incident I have no idea where to start. In random order:

The officers in this case are not just using lawful force (noun) to effect an arrest; they are also seen trying to force (verb) the subject to obey their direction ('get dressed'). This is the fundamental line-in-the-sand the defines a police state. If it is illegal to be naked, then arrest the naked man. He's already naked, he's probably been naked for a while, and it hasn't killed anyone. There's no threat. So simply arrest him.

Three obese, obviously out-of-shape, police officers cannot handle one guy. They display extremely poor physical skills. It should be considered to be an embarrassment to the department that their officers are in such poor shape. [LINK]

The taser appears to be used in the wires + direct stun mode (difficult to see clearly). This is one of the additional modes overlooked by the in-house "taser experts". [LINK]

The taser was pressed directly into the subject's neck at the spine, perhaps even the head. Seems to be reckless and is an indication that the police have been badly trained. They've obviously not been informed of the controversy swirling around tasers. They've probably never read that taser shocks to the brain can cause seizures. [LINK]

Christ on a friggin crutch! Three big fat guys on one small out-of-shape hippy. This is nothing more than sadists (sans the sexual content - of course I may be wrong.) punishing a type they don't like. Tasers hugely bring out "teh lazy" in cops. I'm getting tired of not actually saying, "lazy fat cops" regarding taser use.

Note that I'm not afraid of saying that (After all, my url is attached to this comment.). I've just exhibited restraint up to this point; I haven't wanted to seem unsympathetic to what cops go through on a daily basis. But, I'm done playing with moral relativism given the large number of lazy cops overusing tasers. Enough is enough is enough. There's no excuse for this BS.
