Mission Statement - De-Spinning the Pro-Taser Propaganda

Yeah right, 'Excited Delirium' my ass...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The primary purpose of this blog is to provide an outlet for my observations and analysis about tasers, taser "associated" deaths, and the behaviour exhibited by the management, employees and minions of Taser International. In general, everything is linked back to external sources, often via previous posts on the same topic, so that readers can fact-check to their heart's content. This blog was started in late-2007 when Canadians were enraged by the taser death of Robert Dziekanski and four others in a short three month period. The cocky attitude exhibited by the Taser International spokespuppet, and his preposterous proposal that Mr. Dziekanski coincidentally died of "excited delirium" at the time of his taser-death, led me to choose the blog name I did and provides my motivation. I have zero financial ties to this issue.

US Supreme Court asked to comment on taser-torture

The United States Supreme Court could be examining its first case of possible excessive taser abuse, and it comes from Washington County. The American Civil Liberties Union filed the petition earlier this week involving a videotaped tasing by a Washington County sheriff's deputy in 2004. The deputy tased a man after he was in handcuffs and down on the ground.

... Generations of Americans have assumed that if they passively resist a police office, they'll be arrested but not brutalized. My concern is that this gives permission to law enforcement officers to wail on someone with a club or spray them with chemicals or shock them with a taser for being nonviolent. And that is a step backwards. As of today, the U.S. Supreme Court has not decided whether or not it will take the case.

Gee - I wonder if they'll decide to let the USA continue its slide towards being a police state where people can have dangerous electro-shock torture applied by the police for no good reason?

What do you think they do?
