Mission Statement - De-Spinning the Pro-Taser Propaganda

Yeah right, 'Excited Delirium' my ass...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The primary purpose of this blog is to provide an outlet for my observations and analysis about tasers, taser "associated" deaths, and the behaviour exhibited by the management, employees and minions of Taser International. In general, everything is linked back to external sources, often via previous posts on the same topic, so that readers can fact-check to their heart's content. This blog was started in late-2007 when Canadians were enraged by the taser death of Robert Dziekanski and four others in a short three month period. The cocky attitude exhibited by the Taser International spokespuppet, and his preposterous proposal that Mr. Dziekanski coincidentally died of "excited delirium" at the time of his taser-death, led me to choose the blog name I did and provides my motivation. I have zero financial ties to this issue.

One taser deployment "saves" Columbia negative $300,000

Columbia Tribune - The Columbia city Finance Department agreed last month to pay $300,000 to 46-year-old Phillip McDuffy to settle a claim... An internal investigation by Columbia police found the Taser use was proper. However, the incident and others in the region prompted Columbia police to adopt new, more restrictive guidelines for Taser use. Still, critics say, the settlement should be a warning that the devices are more trouble than they are worth. ... [LINK]

This continues the trend of taser deployment lawsuits resulting in ever-increasing settlements.

Here is a news crew's video of the incident. You can see that he is sitting calmly when they decide to run up and tase him.

Go to about 1:45 of Video #15 (Highway camera) and you can see them tase him, causing him to fall from the overpass:

Or you can watch the local news story and see the police's lame excuse that they were trying to "prevent" him from returning to the bridge. He was just sitting; there was nothing to prevent!
